Coming off the the Video Music Awards (VMA's) some of the music icons that we listen to gathered in Los Angeles, CA for awards like newest artist, and best music video (of course). But the one part of the night that most of the viewers tune into is the illustrious red carpet where Hollywood icons, superstars, and famous athletes strut their stuff to show off the latest fashions or to make a statement with some ridiculous or horrible outfit just to stand out against the crowd. One of these artists was Nicki Minaj, an up and coming artist with famous hits like Super Bass and Moment for Life and collaborates with other artists like Drake, Flo Rida and Lil Wayne. Minaj as a female artist in the hip-hop industry is hard enough which is primarily dominated by mostly males with few female artists who have become as successful as she has so quickly. So in order to stand out she has been known through her creative music videos to display some unique options for her wardrobe in order to stand out from the rest of the other female hip-hop artists... but this takes it to a whole new level in her genre of the music industry.
By comparison, Lady Gaga with her ever changing appearance and her extreme show performances (i.e. bleeding on stage and her infamous chopped meat outfit) can also be displayed for ridiculous. to support Gaga's creativity her genre is surrounded by sex objects known as pop artists ( Britney Spears, Beyonce) though all great artists that are entertaining for the masses, it is refreshing to see an artist who isn't afraid to take chances and refuses to what the music industry expects from their female artists just to sell albums. But isn't there a limit to this ridiculous especially when you become the center of criticism from not just critics but the listeners and watchers of their music and music videos for younger generations who look up to these artists?
